Whether you are a medical professional, therapist or work for a third-party Employee Assistance Program (EAP) with a client in need of referral for specialized treatment, Drug Treatment and Rehab Centers (DTRC) has made the referral process easy.
We have a dedicated employee who works with clinical professionals and EAP programs that are referring patients or employees to us. We also will remain in contact with you throughout the patient’s care, when it is appropriate and we have consent.
Patients or Client in Need of Specialized Treatment
Primary care physicians, psychologists, therapists, and other mental health and medical professionals are the front line for treatment of substance abuse and mental health issues. Primary care physicians in particular are frequently the first person a patient contacts for help. Sometimes, your patient will require more specialized or intensive treatment than you can provide. That is where DTRC can help. We offer residential and intensive outpatient programming for dual diagnosis, mental health disorders and addiction. We work with you to ensure a continuum of care, including during discharge planning when applicable. We believe we are all on the same team, working hard to ensure the best care for each and every person we treat. Together, we will help your client overcome his or her problem and regain control over his or her life.
The Referral Process for Patients or Clients Made Easy
At DTRC, we have made the referral process easy. After you have spoken with your patient or client and have permission to contact us on his or her behalf, you just have to provide our Admissions team with the contact information. We will reach out to the potential patient and explain our treatment program. We guide him or her through the admissions and intake process. We will continue to be in contact with you, as long as the patient consents. Although we will try to work with you when you refer someone to us and keep you informed of his or her progress, we must respect privacy laws such as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the wishes of the patient.
When an Employee Requires Assistance
An estimated 75 percent of people who use illicit drugs or abuse prescription medications have jobs, but only a small percentage of those who need treatment receive it. That can increase company expenses for injuries and illness, as well as indirect costs such as absenteeism and reduced productivity. Many of the people who receive treatment for a substance abuse disorder are also diagnosed with a mental health disorder such as depression, further increasing costs.
More than 75 percent of companies have either an in-house EAP program in place or use a third-party entity to help workers with substance abuse, mental health and a broad range of other issues. Employees and dependents can contact the EAP program directly on a voluntary basis; employees may be referred to the EAP by their supervisors. Typically, EAP programs offer assessment and short-term drug counseling or other forms of assistance and support to employees and their dependents. If you work for an EAP, depending on the nature and severity of the problem and your internal capabilities, you may wish to refer the employee to a treatment program. Even if your company does not have an EAP program, you may wish to encourage an employee exhibiting drug addiction or alcoholism warning signs to seek treatment.
Eliminating Barriers to Treatment
People face many challenges when looking for a program or entering treatment for a behavioral health problem, whether it is addiction, mental health. At DTRC, we have worked to try to eliminate the biggest barriers most people face. We accept most private insurance plans for treatment, so that we can be an affordable option. We will discuss the financial package, including insurance coverage with the patient up front. We strive to create a financial plan that will work for each client. We will also offer transportation services, including cars or flights, if the need arises. We will also help with any required paperwork, including for employee FMLA or disability. We have a dedicated person who will work with you to facilitate the referral process, making it easy for you. We also have dedicated case managers, a client advocate, and a concierge that work with the patient and families to make everything as uncomplicated for the patient and his or her family as possible. Our staff strives to streamline the process and make it as easy as possible for patients, and for those who refer them to us.
